Simon Grundy has been applying information technology in business since the 1970s, when it was a luxury that only big companies could afford. Now IT is affordable by small companies, and he applies the knowledge and skills acquired from over 30 years experience in IT and business, to making companies more efficient and more profitable.
Simon trained as a programmer after university and progressed through technical roles, to responsibility for delivering systems to the business, taking two years out for a full-time MBA. After a spell as a general management consultant in Kenya, he returned to the UK and worked for two large software houses as a project manager /business consultant and for a service supplier as business requirements manager. He then ran his own IT management consultancy up-country for 7 years, working first on contract in an investment bank for 4 years, then on a number of assignments in different industries including local government, oil and utilities.
Simon believes that there have been only a handful of significant generic changes in information technology for business during his career, all of which can be readily understood (click here for details); also that a good technician in any field can explain things in English if required to. He has a first class honours degree from Cambridge University in science and engineering, and a master’s degree with distinction in business administration from the London Business School.
